ProBase

One of the benefits of post-16 vocational science courses, such as GCE Applied Science, is that students become competent in techniques and skills required in the workplace.

The international ProBase project is developing problem-based activities imitating real life situations. Students learn skills such as:

•  using scientific knowledge to solve problems

•  working in teams to solve problems

•  communication

•  managing time and workload

•  resource and budget management.

4science is working with several schools and colleges to develop and trial chemistry and environmental science activities before they go live on the ProBase website – where they will be available for teachers and students, free of charge.

The schools currently trialling activities are:

Queen Mary’s College, Basingstoke

Malmesbury School, Malmesbury

Ringwood School, Ringwood

We still have some funding available for schools/colleges to trial activities.
