engineering everywhere

Engineering Everywhere

Engineering Everywhere was an EPSRC funded project aimed at making engineering and engineers a transparent feature in the examined science curriculum for young people. Despite a cascade of initiatives from many sources, engineering remains a Cinderella concept at school level. Inaccurate perceptions of engineers as low paid, low skilled workers are still widespread and are a major influence in the poor uptake of engineering courses by school leavers. This has led to a dearth of well-qualified engineers entering the research community and the labour market in the UK.

The resource was orignially published as a CD-ROM, and brought contextualised engineering content, ideas and concepts into 14-16 science lessons through video, interactive elctronic activities and practical activities.

This website now hosts a number of the videos and practical activites for you to view and download.

There are eight themes, each illustrating how engineering is integral to them:

Bikes | Fragrance | Robots | Skeletons

Thrills | Television | Water | Sails
